Institute, Observatory Hill, Himalayan Zoo. Evening at leisure at
the Chowrasta with its bustling bazars, restaurants. Overnight at

Check into hotel. Evening visit Tashi View Point to watch the

Gangtok - Lachung

Drive to Lachung at an
altitude of 8,800 feet in North Sikkim en-route visit Phodong
Monastery, built by Chogyal Gyurmed Namgyal in 18th century,
Labrang Monastery & the ruins of the 3rd capital city of Sikkim
Tumlong. The Palace is in ruins, however the memorial Chortens
have with stood the vagaries of natural hazards. Lachung is
inhabited by Bhutias who migrated to Sikkim in 15th century from
Bhutan |

Lachung – Yumthang-

Morning drive to
Yumthang Valley at an altitude of 12,000 feet en-route visit
Singba Forest Reserve and Rhododendron Sanctuary which has the
most unusual flowering of multi- coloured rhododendrons, which
otherwise are of red colour only. Return to Lachung and walk
around the village square. You can watch the local “legal court”
proceedings of the” Dzamsa” ( public meeting place ) with chosen
senator “ Pipon” who takes all decisions for the welfare of the

Yuksum |

Yuksom was the first
capital of Sikkim and the first Chogyal was consecrated here in
1642.If you feel energetic an easy half hour walk takes you to
Dubdi Monastery ( The Retreat) , Norbugang Chorten & Kathok Lake.
Yuksom serves as the base camp for trek to western Sikkim. Over

Morning proceed on an
easy walk of a kilometer to the village of Pelling from where we
walk up to Sanga Chelling Monastery, the effort is worth while as
this monastery is considered the oldest in Sikkim. This monastery
is used as a Retreat & Meditation Center by the Buddhist Lamas

Drive to Kalimpong,
enroute visit the holy cave Kadosang Phu ( Cave Of the occult
fairy ) and Phur- Cha Chu Reshi Hot Springs near the village of
Reshi on the River Rangit. The waters of these springs contain
sulphur and have medicinal value. Over night in hotel |
